PURPOSE:To prevent the service life of a data area on a recording disk even when head saving operation remains unoperated by allowing an auxiliary power supply equipment to save the head of a fixed disk device automatically after the operator opens a power switch. CONSTITUTION:When the operator cuts off the power switch 1, output voltages +12V, +5V of a main power supply 20 are lowered and a CPU 3 and a controller 4 stop the operation. A logical L signal is outputted as a power-off identification signal 22 to turn off a transistor (TR) 23, a current of a relay coil 30 is turned off to open a relay contact 31. Since the power +12v, +5V from the auxiliary power supply 21 is fed to the fixed disk device 25 even when the relay contact 31 is opened until the voltage across a capacitor 26 is decreased below the threshold value, the power-off identification signal 22 starts the firmware of the head saving in the fixed disk device 25 to save the head.
