PURPOSE:To obtain heat treated material having a high quality at a good workability, by connecting one vacuum purge chamber and a shared chamber in one body therewith, together treating metal materials of >=2 units substitution treated in order in a vacuum purge chamber in the shared chamber, then substitution treating the units again one by one in the treating chamber. CONSTITUTION:A gate 11 is opened to transport a metal material A-unit of the first time into the vacuum purge chamber 1, the gate 11 is closed for vacuum substitution. After pressure restoration, gates 12, 13 are opened, the material A-unit of the first time is transported to the shared chamber 2 and the gates 12, 13 are closed. Similarly, the material A-unit of the second time is transported to the chamber 2. Both materials A-units are heated and treated under a prescribed atmosphere, cooling treated,then the gates 12, 13 are opened to transport the material unit-A of the second time into the chamber 1, further the gate 11 is opened to transport it on a carrying out table 3. Similarly, the material A-unit of the first time is transported on the table 3.
