PURPOSE:To easily and correctly perform the displaying of a device address by registering system constitution information and displaying automatically respective device addresses at a prescribed peripheral equipment with a displaying command at the time of the rise of a system. CONSTITUTION:An information processing system is equipped with a central processing unit 1 and a main memory device 2 which come to be a kernel, plural input output control devices 31-3L of hierachy constitution, peripheral control equipments 41-4M and peripheral equipments 51-5N. The central processing unit 1 reads the device address of one device from a system constitution information table registered in a main memory device 2 and decides the presence and absence of the displaying part of the equipment. The input output control device reads from the address on the main memory device 2 displayed by the data address in the device address displaying command issued to its own device from the central processing unit 1, transfers through the peripheral control equipment to the corresponding peripheral equipment, thereby, displaying its own device address at the displaying part formed at the prescribed place in the peripheral equipment.
