PURPOSE:To attain a normal cursor shift mode and a fine movement mode by selecting either a pulse signal or a frequency-divided pulse signal and outputting it to a computer. CONSTITUTION:The titled device has an input terminal 41 for a pulse string in a direction (x) outputted from the output terminal 11 of an operator 1 in the pointing device, an input terminal 42 for a pulse string in a direction (x) which is frequency-divided by N and outputted from the output terminal 22 of an N-frequency dividing circuit 2, and an output terminal 44 for a selected pulse string. It also has an input terminal 51 for a pulse string in a direction (y) which is outputted from an output terminal 12, and an input terminal 52 for a pulse string in a direction (y) which is frequency-divided by N and outputted from the output terminal 32 of an N-frequency dividing circuit 3, and an output terminal 54 for a selected pulse string. If a pulse string signal is selected and outputted to a computer, the operation is shifted to the normal shift mode. When an N-frequency-divided pulse string signal is selected and outputted to a computer, the operation is shifted to the fine movement mode.
