PURPOSE:To easily obtain synchronization for connecting a clutch with a simple structure without need for using a large synchromesh device by using a differential lock mechanism provided on a differential gear, at the time of changeover from 2-wheel driving to 4-wheel driving. CONSTITUTION:A 2-wheel/4-wheel changeover mechanism is provided on a transfer device 2 having a pair of output shafts for transmitting the rotation of an input shaft to an inter-wheel differential gear provided between each of the front wheels and rear wheels. And, a clutch 10 for disconnecting a transmission route through which an output is transmitted from the output gear of an inter-wheel differential gear 9 on the side of wheels which become free wheels at the time of 2-wheel driving to axle shafts 8, is provided on one of the shaft 8. Also, a differential lock mechanism 20 is provided on the inter-wheel differential gear, and operated when the clutch is connected according to a changeover command from 2-wheel to 4-wheel, to synchronize the clutch driven side with the output connecting side. By this structure, the synchronization for connecting a clutch at the time of changeover from 2-wheel driving to 4-wheel driving can be easily obtained with a simple structure.
