A cell 6 with plates made of magnetic material is placed near the air gap in a magnetic circuit of a known device for measuring the current I1 by cancellation, by means of a current I2, of the magnetic field detected by a Hall-effect probe 5 placed in the said air gap. The cell 6 with magnetic plates is inserted in an alarm circuit 61, 62. Any malfunctioning of the known device is indicated in this way. Application of the invention particularly to the measurement of high currents and voltages. <IMAGE>
