PURPOSE:The titled promoter having no fear of safety to human and animals, showing improved maturity promoting effects by treating agricultural and horticultural crops (except citrus fruits), capable of shortening time of harvesting, having high safety, comprising a water-soluble vitamin K derivative as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A maturity promoter containing a water-soluble vitamin K derivative such as menadione sodium bisulfite, menadiol tetrasodium diphosphate, menadiol diacetate, 4-amino-3-methyl-1-naphthol hydrochloride, etc. as an active ingredient. The active ingredient is blended with a carrier and an auxiliary, manufactured into spray, dust, wettable powder and used for agricultural and horticultural crops except citrus fruits at about 5-10 days intervals just before transition from vegetative stage to maturing stage dividely 2-3 times by direct scattering on stems and leaves, flowers, fruits, etc., or by coating. Treatment concentration is 0.001-100,000ppm. The amount of harvest can be increased and qualities improved.
