PURPOSE:To improve the processing efficiency of a computer by transferring data between the computer and a floppy disk controller through an FIFO memory. CONSTITUTION:The FIFO(First In First Out) memory 40 lies between the computer 20 employing the floppy disk device 10 as an external storage device and the floppy disk controller 30 controlling the read and write of the floppy disk device 10, and data is transferred between them. If data is transferred through the FIFO memory 40, data can be transferred in a short time between the floppy disk controller 30 and the FIFO memory 40 irrespective of the processing of the computer 20, and moreover hourly limits due to the data transfer between the computer 20 and the floppy disk controller 30 is eliminated.
