摘要 PURPOSE:To execute accurate binary coding and to reduce the price of an image signal processor by providing a simple binary threshold value generating means, and binarization means which compares a picture signal with a threshold value from the binary threshold value generating means. CONSTITUTION:A selector 36 is selectively controlled by an area specification control circuit 26 to output a threshold from a dither binary threshold area circuit 37 or the one from a multiplier 34 selectively to a binary-coding circuit 38. As the result, the circuit 38 compares a signal supplied from a high frequency emphasizing circuit 31 with the threshold supplied from the selector 36 and outputs a binary-coded signal. For instance, the circuit 38 compares the signal supplied from the circuit 31 with the threshold supplied from the selector 36, and when the signal is larger than the threshold, decides the signal as 'white' and outputs a '0' signal. When the signal is less than the threshold, the circuit 38 decides the signal as 'black' and outputs an '1' signal. Consequently, accurate binary coding of both sentence and photograph parts can be attained and the cost of the processor can be reduced.
