PURPOSE:To obtain the captioned device in compact structure by installing a trailing bevel gear onto a hollow cylindrical carrier member and accommodating a differential gear device constituting elements whose directions of axis lines accord into the inner space of the carrier member. CONSTITUTION:A drive pinion 22a is installed at the edge part of a drive shaft 22 axially supported at a prescribed position crossing at right angles with the axle shafts 7 and 8 in a diff carrier 21 fixed onto a diff case 20, and meshed with a trailing ring gear 26 installed onto a hollow cylindrical carrier body 25 axially supported coaxially with the axle shafts 7 and 8. The carrier body 25 is engaged and disengaged with a supporting body 29a by a gear 28 installed at the edge part of the carrier body 25 and a sleeve 36 which constitutes a clutch together with the gear 30 of the supporting body 29a. Pinion gears 32 and 34 axially supported between the supporting bodies 29a and 29b are accommodated into the carrier body 25, and meshed with gear parts 7a and 8a installed at the edge parts of the shafts 7 and 8.
