PURPOSE:To obtain a clear and sharp picture while deflecting an electron beam in the horizontal scanning direction by applying different kinds of voltage between two specifically-shaped electrodes of a color picture tube. CONSTITUTION:The negative electrodes KR, KG, KB and the first-sixth grids 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 are arranged in the electron beam emitting direction in this order with intervals. In the grid 40, electrode members 41 and 42, in which a plate-shaped electrode is provided with a cylindrical projection 43, are opposedly arranged. The surface formed by the tip of said cylindrical projection 43 is non-parallel to the vertical plane to a tube axis while being the inclined surface practically parallel to the horizontal scanning direction. When higher voltage is impressed on the electrode member 41 than on the electrode member 42, an electron beam is deflected to the direction B. Further, when higher voltage is impressed on the electrode member 42 than on the electrode member 41, the electron beam B is deflected to the direction A. The direction and angle of deflection are all the same as to the central beam and both side beams. Thereby, halo of the side beams can be remarkably reduced so as to obtain a clear and sharp picture.
