PURPOSE:To check normality of the operation of a data compression circuit and a data expansion circuit, and to secure data integrity, by checking coincidence between a data before a data expansion and the one after a data expansion and compression. CONSTITUTION:The data sent from a magnetic tape device 2 through a data line 102 is outputted 101 through a data expansion circuit 12, and is inputted to a channel and data compression circuit 11. Meanwhile, a sent data is also inputted to a time adjustment circuit 13, and an adjustment for a delayed time with the circuits 11 and 12 is performed. By inputting the output 103 of the circuit 13, and the output 104 of the circuit 11, to a coincidence circuit 14 simultaneously, and taking the coincidence between the data before the data expansion, and the data after the data expansion and compression, the check for the operation of the circuits 11 and 12 can be performed.
