It is made from a fibrous material base in the form of a furry surface strip and consisting of natural and/or synthetic fibres that is subjected to an impregnation of resin, preferably polyether-urethane, with a viscosity enabling the fur and the surface fibres of the base to be covered and included without forming a film, and next the impregnated mass is immersed in a bath of water at 55 degree - 95 degree C to produce simultaneous reactions, namely: hydrolysis on the urethane isocyanate groups supplying amines and releasing carbon dioxide; reaction of the amines with the residual isocyanate group to form derivatives of urea; and rupture of the resin mass structures by the expansion effect of the carbon dioxide, which leads to a polymeric mass surrounding the said furs and fibres of the base presenting some characteristics similar to those of suede, ending with conventional finishing operations.
|
