PURPOSE:To store an optical fiber in the spiral groove of a spacer with sufficient extra length and to prevent the optical fiber from being broken by providing the groove with a doglegged inflection part or refracting part so that part of at least one wall surface swells in the outward direction of the groove. CONSTITUTION:The spacer 1 which contains the optical fiber 3 is provided in an aluminum pipe 4 provided in the center of the strand of an overhead earth-wire, etc. The groove 2 is formed spirally in the surface of the spacer 1 and the wall surface of at least one wall of the groove 2 formed in a dogleg shaped while swelling in the outward direction of the groove 2. When the optical fiber is stored, the optical fiber 3 is positioned at the refracting part 2a of the groove 2, so if a tensile force, etc., is applied to the optical fiber, the optical fiber 3 moves to the bottom part 2b of the groove 2, so the optical fiber 3 is not elongated and prevented from being broken. |
