PURPOSE:To provide a mite-controlling agent containing 3,3,4,4- tetachlorotetrahydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide as an active component, exhibiting excellent miticidial and fungicidal effect and capable of eliminating mildew acting as a feed for mites. CONSTITUTION:3,3,4,4-Tetrachlorotetarhydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide which is known as a slime-controlling agent for paper-making industry is used as an active component of the objective mite-controlling agent. Although the active component may be used as it is, however, it is usually mixed with a carrier or adjuvant and used in the form of liquid, powder, aerosol, etc. It can be used in combination with other miticide, insecticide, fungicide, etc. The agent may be applied or scattered on floor, TATAMI mat, dust-bag of a vacuum cleaner or applied to a paper sheet to be laid under a TATAMI mat or carpet.
