PURPOSE:To improve the selectivity of the titled substance in a production process comprising the oxidation of cyclohexane in the presence of a boron compound, aging of the resultant oxidation mixture an the hydrolysis of produced ester, by adding the boron compound dividedly to the first two steps. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is produced by a process comprising (1) an oxidization step comprising the oxidization of cyclohexane with molecular oxygen in the presence of a boron compound (e.g. orthoboric acid, boric anhydride, boric acid ester, etc.) to obtain an oxidation mixture containing (A) cyclohexyl hydroperoxide and (B) cyclohexanol boric acid ester; (2) an aging step comprising the heat-treatment of the obtained mixture in a state shielded from oxygen to convert the compound A to the compound B; and (3) a hydrolysis step comprising the hydrolysis of the produced compound B. In the above process, the boric acid is used at an amount of >=0.3mol (especially 0.5-5mol) (based on 1mol of the objective compound) and 10-90% of the amount is used in the oxidization step and the remaining part is used in the aging step. EFFECT:The selectivity can be increased by 4-5%.
