PURPOSE:To contemplate improvement in the corrosive material barrier properties and the rust resisting performance of the resulting coating film, by blending a paint compsn. with a scaly powder composed of a laminar oxide having a surface which is made organic and a rust inhibiting pigment. CONSTITUTION:A rust-resisting paint compsn. is obtd. by blending a paint compsn. consisting of a base resin, a pigment, a solvent and various additives with 0.2-30wt% scaly powder composed of a laminar oxide having a surface which is made organic and 0.1-5wt% rust inhibiting pigment, each per 100wt% nonvolatile matter component. Examples of the scaly powder are smectites, vermiculite, mica, etc. A scaly powder having a thickness of 0.01 to 0.1mu, a length of 0.1 to 1.0mu and an aspect ratio of not lower than 10 is used. The paint compsn. contains pref. 3-10wt% scaly powder. Examples of the rust inhibiting pigment are chromate, lead and zinc pigments. The pigment is used in an amount of pref. 1 to 2wt% based on that of the compsn.
