The invention relates to a photopolymerisable material which is suitable for the production of information-recording materials, for the production of relief images for printing plates and of printed circuits, and for the production of image-wise exposed surface coatings. The object of the invention is to provide a novel initiator system of high sensitivity in the visible spectral region for a photopolymerizable material having improved mechanical properties. This object is achieved by the fact that the photopolymerisable material comprising base, monomer, binder and optionally further additives contains a photoinitiator combination comprising an H or electron donor and an H or electron acceptor and a coinitiator (onium compounds). On exposure, the donor and acceptor form free-radical pairs, where the first part of the free-radical pair preferably initiates the polymerisation directly, while the other part of the free-radical pair preferably reacts with the coinitiator. Products which themselves initiate the polymerisation are likewise formed here.
