<p>Process for the assembly of vehicles having a one-piece construction, whereby all components or sub-assemblies of the chassis and, if applicable, additional components of the body are presented to the latter from the underside and assembled thereto. It is known to present to the body already pre-assembled sub-assemblies together with the remaining components of the vehicle from under the body and join them to the body or to one another by an overhead operation. This process is not suitable for automatic assembly, e.g. using industrial robots inter alia owing to the large vertical travels involved. In the process described, in order to be able to use robots or automatic auxiliary assembly systems, the components or sub-assemblies of the complete chassis are pre-assembled on a mountig frame (1) according to their subsequent location on the structure in relation to one another and are secured to the said frame almost entirely by their intrinsic weight, and the chassis thus preassembled is linked with the body (25), to which it is connected, before removal of the mounting frame.</p> |
