A reel (1) for winding elongated, flexible articles, such as, for example, cables, lines, pipes or the like, is described, which has two disc-shaped flanges (2, 3), in particular of plastic, and a core (4) which is connected to the flanges, is polygonal in cross-section, is made of cardboard and is provided on both sides with tabs (7) which are pushed through in each case two openings (8, 9) in the flanges (2, 3) and, with ends widened in a barb-like manner, are hooked to the respective inner openings (9), which narrow in a step-shaped manner, the tabs (7) fitting with their widened ends through the wider region of the inner openings (9) and engaging behind the narrower region. <IMAGE>
