A therapeutic shoe having a leg part (13) that reaches above the ankles, has pockets (41) in the ankle region for accommodation of reinforcing elements (40) and furthermore possesses a flexible wedge sole (2) of foamed plastic. According to the invention, the leg part has a corset (11, 12, 13) which forms a support edge (11, 12) along the upper sole edge and the ankle and heel region (13) of the leg part. This permits a considerable reduction in the weight of the shoe, so that the kinaesthesia of patients with paralyses or partial paralyses in the legs and feet is considerably improved. Moreover, the vamp (18) of the shoe is connected to an edge strip (19) extending from the inside joint to the tip of the shoe and around this to the outside joint and can be folded upwards in order to expose the toes of the patient (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
