A reinforcing member, of which at least part is intended to remain, after concreting, in an environment which is aggressive to ferrous metals, is distinguished in that the surface of said part is provided with a protective metal coating (11, 12) in order to protect it from external influences. The coating, e.g. tubular (11, 12) may consist of stainless steel, in particular V4A, of a nonferrous metal or of lightweight metal. A zinc sheathing produced from platelets constitutes a cathodic protective layer. On using a tube (11; 12), the latter can be pressed, at its two ends, onto the reinforcing member. This results in a corrosion-protected region of the reinforcing member which may be exposed, without negative effects, to the access of an environment which is aggressive to ferrous metals. <IMAGE>
