PURPOSE:To execute magnetic recording and reproduction by selecting a magnetic gap for suppressing the generation of an azimuth loss to the minimum, by providing plural pieces of magnetic gaps against the same tracks, and making azimuth angles of these magnetic gaps different. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic gap 10 for erasion and a magnetic gap 11 for write are formed on a butting surface of two cores 14, 15, and a butting surface of magnetic cores 16, 17, respectively. Also, magnetic gaps 12, 13 for read are formed on a butting surface of the magnetic core 17 and 18, and a butting surface of the magnetic core 18 and 19, respectively. One magnetic gap 12 has an azimuth angle of +theta, and the other magnetic gap 13 has an azimuth angle of -theta. In this way, at the time of reproduction, reproducing outputs obtained by the respective magnetic gaps 11-13 are compared, the magnetic gap having the best reproducing output is selected, and by using its magnetic gap, recording and reproduction can be executed. |
