PURPOSE:To reproduce digital signals recorded in plural track areas simultaneously from plural track areas by forming many sectional tracks slanted to longitudinal direction in each of plural track areas divided in the direction of width and reproducing digital signals read from the sectional recording tracks separately. CONSTITUTION:Many sectional recording tracks slanted to a longitudinal direction are formed in plural track areas A1-A6 divided in the direction of width. Rotary heads HA, HB that scans on a tape in which digital signals are recorded in the direction slanted to the longitudinal direction, a signal separating section 40 that separates and takes out digital signals read from sectional recording tracks T1-T6 of respective track areas from output of the rotary heads in a period in which the rotary head scan respective track area, and plural reproduction processing sections 81-86 that reproduce read digital signals separately are provided. Thereby, the digital signals can be reproduced simultaneously from respective track area.
