PURPOSE:To allow one communication controller to execute data transmission in addition to calling or incoming even when transmission procedures are changed depending on, e.g., outgoing/incoming or data transmission by providing plural control tables. CONSTITUTION:When the connection of line exchange is designated by a main interface at the initial setting from a central processing unit 3, a microprogram 12 of a communication controller 1 selects an outgoing/incoming control table 11 as a control table. When an outgoing or an incoming command is received from the central processing unit 3, the operation according to the control table is performed. When the outgoing or incoming is finished normally, the communicable state is reached and in this case, the microprogram 12 selects a transmission control table 10 as the control table. When the reception or transmission command is received from the central processing unit 3, data is sent according to the control table. When a command disconnecting the connection with a line exchange network is received from the central processing unit 3, the restoration is operated and outgoing/incoming control table 11 is selected as the control table.
