PURPOSE:To know instantly the random access information of a tape without reproducing the tape and to eliminate the danger of malfunction by storing the random access information to another exclusive-use memory means to a tape. CONSTITUTION:A memory card 11 is equipped with a non-volatile memory to store random access information of the label of a program recorded to a cassette tape 7 and the starting address of the head position of respective labels each tape number. A main CPU 1 accesses the memory card 11 by using the tape number of a bar code 8 to identify a tape cassette 7, the random access information of the tape number is supplied to an on screen circuit 16 and displayed at a CRT 17. When the ten-key of a remote controller 3 is operated, for example, a starting address 2315 is inputted, the main CPU 1 supplies a control signal to feed quickly and rewind a mechanism part 5 to a sub-CPU 2 so that the absolute address of a tape 6 can be the same as the value of the starting address. When the absolute address of the tape 6 is coincident to the value of the starting address, the reproduction of the tape 6 is started.
