PURPOSE:To obtain a packaging material excellent in antistatic property and excellent in easy slidability, transparency, etc., by coating the surface of a plastic film with a dispersion containing a mixture of a specified swellable inorganic layer silicate with a water-soluble resin. CONSTITUTION:The interlayer ions of a swellable inorganic layer silicate such as montmorillonite or teniolite are replaced by 6C or lower alihatic ammonium ions or ions such as Na<+>, Li<+> or Ag<+>. this silicate is mixed with a water-soluble resin (e.g., a silane coupling agent or polyvinyl alcohol) at a mixing ratio of the former to the latter of 1/1,000-2/1, and the obtained mixture is dispersed in a solvent (e.g., water or alcohol). This dispersion is applied to a plastic film (e.g., biaxially orientated polyethylene terephthalate film) to obtain the purpose packaging material.
