Helical toothing of high precision is obtained with the Grob method, which is known per se, the workpiece (W) being rotated continuously and producing a symmetrical tooth-gap cut with asymmetrical rollers (31). The apparatus is very similar to a conventional Grob apparatus except for the considerable difference that the rollers (31) are asymmetrical. It is thus possible, with very modest means, to avoid the hitherto unavoidable inaccuracies, the asymmetrical shape of the rollers contrasting with the symmetrical rollers also customary in the Grob method and with the symmetrical cutting tools used for helical toothing. <IMAGE>
