The invention relates to an electrical monitoring device for a roving bobbin 3 mounted on a suspended holder 1 in a spinning machine, with a pivotable sensing device 5 and with a ring 4 made of electrically conductive material which cooperates with the latter and which is fastened to the tube 2 of the roving bobbin 3. According to the invention, a brake lever 6 known per se, connected to the suspended holder 1, is the pivotable sensing device 5 which has electrical contacts 7 for contacting the ring 4. <IMAGE>
