A turntable (1) is arranged to be slowly rotated so that reflectors of a solar energy collector mounted thereon are maintained in an optimum orientation with respect to the sun as the sun moves across the sky by a mechanism comprising: a feed header tank (14) for providing a regulated supply of water; a body suspended from a line (3) attached to a tension spring (7) and having a bucket (9) for receiving water from the feed means so that the bucket (9) moves downwards gradually under the influence of gravity against the action of the spring (7) as water is added thereto; and a pulley (6) around which the line (3) passes for rotating the turntable (1) as the body moves downwards. At predetermined intervals, eg every 8 or 12 hours, the water is tipped out of the bucket (9) automatically so that the body rises to its initial position to commence another cycle of movement. <IMAGE> |
