Animal feedstuffs or foodstuffs are prepared by digesting vegetable and/or animal raw ingredients, such as grains beans or fish meal, especially in feed or food mixtures, using an extruder. The vegetable and/or animal raw material is pretreated at a humidity of from 10 to 40, in particular from 12 to 30 percent, and a temperature from 30 to 150, in particular from 50 to 120 degrees Celsius, and then passed to a multi-stage extruder (14). After chopping, the product is transported to a drying and/or cooling station (18/19). |
