PURPOSE:To produce a metallic diaphragm having a uniform wall thickness and having no residual stress by plating the entire part of the mold surface of a base body which consists of a thermoplastic material and is to be plated, then melting away the base body to be plated. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed diaphragm shape is preliminarily worked stop the base body 20 which consists of the thermoplastic material and is to be plated and the top surface thereof is subjected to nickel or sulfur-free nickel plating to form the diaphragm 21. A resin, low temp. molten metal or aluminum is used for the base body 20 and the wall thickness of the diaphragm 21 is freely changed by adjusting the amt. of plating. The entire part of the base body 20 is then heated and is melted away to obtain the diaphragm 21 made of nickel. The diaphragm is subjected to plating of chromium, copper, etc., if necessary. The metallic diaphragm 21 having the uniform wall thickness and having no camber and strain is thus obtd.
