PURPOSE:To reduce greatly the capacity of an attribute area indicating memory by applying an attribute after detecting that the scan area of a bit map memory is set within an area which is indicated by the attribute area indicating memory. CONSTITUTION:An attribute area indicating memory 110 stores data indicating an attribute area as attribute information. When an attribute is applied to a displayed picture, the picture data is read out of a bit map memory 210 by a raster system and supplied to an attribute picture synthesizing means 230. An attribute control information generating part 120 checks whether or not the scan area of the memory 210 is set within an attribute area indicated by the memory 110 and produces the attribute control information to supply it to the means 230. The means 230 applies an attribute to the picture data given from the memory 210 and supplies the picture data to a display device 240. Thus the pictures applied with an attribute are displayed on a display 241 of the means 240. |
