The number of revolutions No of the output shaft of the automatic transmission 10, a throttle opening theta, and the number of revolutions Ne of an engine are read. Then, by detecting the time from the issuance of a lock-up clutch releasing command to the end of an inertia phase, the time from the output of speed change to the issuance of the release command of the lock-up clutch 28 is corrected, based on the detected results.
