PURPOSE:To enable optical writing using a compact semiconductor laser device small in weight, and high-speed recording by using an optical recording medium containing the monomolecular film or built-up molecular films of a diacetylene derivative and a specific compound and applying a specified operation to said medium. CONSTITUTION:The optical recording medium has a recording layer containing the monomolecular film or built-up molecular films of the diacetylene derivative and at least one of the compounds represented by formulae (1) and (2) in which R<1> is alkyl, phenyl, or the like; each of R<2> and R<6> is an arylene group forming a conjugated double bond system with a -CH=CH- group; each of R<3> and R<7> is phenyl or the like; R<4> is alkoxy; R<5> is alkyl; and A is an anion residue. This medium undergoes the first process for receiving irradiation of 800-900nm infrared rays having recording information to form a latent image, and the second process for receiving irradiation of ultraviolet rays to develop the latent image, thus permitting optical writing to be executed by using a compact semiconductor laser device small in weight. |
