PURPOSE:To stabilize the running of a tape and to set a wound magnetic tape to a desirable wound and mounting state that its end edges are made uniform, by utilizing a magnetic field and acting the magnetic field in its thickness direction work on the magnetic tape, in case of winding the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:A pair of permanent magnets 19 are provided on the periphery of a tape reel 2 for winding a magnetic tape T. The permanent magnet 19 is supported by, for instance, the supporting part 20 of a non-magnetic material and attached to the body of a winding device 1, and provided along the radial direction of the reel symmetrically against a rotary shaft of the tape reel 2. When the magnetic tape T is wound by such a winding part, the magnetic tape T becomes a state that it is placed in the line of magnetic force which is extended linearly toward the S pole from the N pole of the permanent magnet 19, therefore, each magnetic tape generates the action for drawing each other in its thickness direction, and the frictional force between the tapes becomes large. Also, for instance, a winding shift in the tape width direction, caused by the behavioral variation of the magnetic tape T can be suppressed without a mechanical contact. In this way, the magnetic tape T is wound in an extremely desirable state that the tape end edges is made uniform.
