The apparatus serves for winding up webs of material (1) in rolls (2', 2'') alternately on driven central winding shafts (4), which may be arranged at at least two winding points (3', 3'') with mutually parallel axes. The said apparatus is provided with a roller head (6), which has at least one roller nip (10.1, 11.1), running through approximately perpendicularly, and is movable between the winding points (3', 3'') for applying the web of material (1) to the winding shafts (4) or their rolls. For this purpose, the roller head (6) is essentially vertically adjustable and held on a runner (13), which is adjustable in an essentially horizontal guide on a member jointing the two winding points (3', 3'') in each case to the approximately perpendicular position of the roller nip (10.1, 11.1) above the winding roller axes. The roller head (6) is rigidly combined with the runner (13), the horizontal guide for the runner (13) being provided on a guide frame (14), which is guided in a raisable and lowerable manner in the rack (23) and is connected to a lifting drive (17-22). <IMAGE>
