PURPOSE:To reduce wear in a magnetic disk by forming a disk with few curl and having a protection layer made f a mineral substance on a recording layer, and attaching a liner on the inside plane of a case. CONSTITUTION:A disk is formed so that a polyethylene telephthalate film having a diameter of 5.25 inches and a thickness of 50mum is used as a medium 11, and on the both planes, a soft magnetism metallic thin layer 12 with high perme ability made of a nickel-iron alloy of 0.4mum, and a vertical magnetic recording layer 13 made of a cobalt-chrome alloy thin film of 0.4mum are laminated, and on the above, a protection layer 14 made of a cobalt oxide of 300Angstrom is laminated with a reactive sputtering method under an oxidizing gas atmosphere in which a cobalt metal is used as target. A case 20 has a liner 21 in its inside plane.
