<p>PURPOSE:To restrain excessive information arising in the boundary between a moving area and a still area or in a background at the time of panning, and to reproduce a smooth action by replaying an overall screen with a moving area if the occupied area in a moving area exceeds a fixed threshold. CONSTITUTION:An input moving image signal is supplied to a timing circuit 1, a movement separation circuit 2 and a delay circuit 11. The timing circuit 1 detects a frame synchronizing signal and supplies it to an occupied amount decision circuit. The movement separation circuit 2 separates moving and still areas from the input moving image signal, outputs '1' if the decided area is a moving area: otherwise, outputs '0', and supplies it to the occupied amount decision circuit 4. It calculates the occupied amount in the moving area by a frame. If it exceeds the prescribed threshold, the circuit 4 is outputting '1' while it is in the frame. If not, the circuit 4 outputs '0' to the frame concerned. The result is applied to a switch 7, a variable length encoder 10, and an interpolation circuit 16 through an OR circuit, and processing is switched by a frame.</p> |
