The invention relates to a process for the preparation of carbamates and/or derivatives thereof which comprises reacting an organic compound containing at least one hydroxyl group with carbon monoxide and an organic nitrogenous compound in the presence of a catalytic system comprising palladium and/or a palladium compound and a water soluble sulphonated 2,2 min -bipyridine, sulphonated 1,10-phenanthroline or sulphonated derivative of 2,2 min -bipyridine or of 1,10-phenanthroline as ligand. |
