PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of buckling and to permit large cross reduction by pressing the central part on the top surface of a rolling material to level the upward deformation, biting the rolling material with vertical rolls and supporting the central part on the bottom surface of the rolling material with a table. CONSTITUTION:The central part on the top surface of the rolling material S is pressed downward by a press roll 5 by which said part is flattened or curved downward and leveled prior to cross reduction. The material S is subjected to the cross reduction while such state is maintained, then both side ends of the material S are lifted or curved to project downward by sloped parts 6 of the vertical rolls 1 and the large cross reduction is executed while the expansion of the deformation by a table 3 is controlled. |
