The invention comprises phosphites of formulµ where R 1 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, aryl, alkaryl, or haloaryl, R is C 1-6 alkyl, a is 0 or 1 and k is 1 to 10. They are prepared by hydrolysing acetal and ketal tertiary phosphites described in Specification 1,047,425. Bis - (2 - methyl - 2 - ethyl - 1,3 - dioxacyclopentyl-5-methyl)phosphite is isolated as an intermediate partially hydrolysed compound. |
