PURPOSE:To attain accurate axis alignment by arranging a light source in a space within a fixed angle from the optical axes of two cameras and within a fixed distance. CONSTITUTION:To obtaine a clear core image from an output emitted from a core by image processing, it is appropriate to set up a distance l between an optical fiber F and the light source within 20-50mm range. The range of an angle formed by the light source and two cameras can be expanded by arranging the light source on the surface of a circular cone formed by setting up a solid angle from the X axes of two cameras to omega and the range can be set up as 75 deg.+ or -15 deg. e.g. The light source 3 capable of irradiating ultraviolet rays with 220-280nm wavelength is movably supported as shown by alternate long and short dash lines. Two optical fiber F to be connected are fixed on fixing stages 1A, 1B and the axis alignment of a core emitting image of the optical fiber is executed by moving the fixing stages 1A, 1B. Consequently, precise axis alignment can be attained. |
