PURPOSE:To obtain a compact low-cost device which has high reliability by providing an electrically erasable read-only memory which stores a self- identification code and a writing means which writes the self-identification code in the memory. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 9, the electrically erasable read-only memory (E<2>PROM) 17, a RAM 11, an operation part 19, an external input/output terminal 21, are a transmitter receiver 13 connected mutually by a data bus 15. When an identification (ID) code is inputted from the operation part 19 or external input/output terminal 21 after the power source of the device is turned on, the CPU 9 writes the code in the E<2>PROM 17. The ID code written in the E<2>PROM 17 is used to control the transmitter receiver 13 when rewritten in the RAM 11 by the CPU 9 for transmission and reception. Therefore, the E<2>PROM 17 for storing the ID code is mounted on the radio device 1 originally, so the need for an IC socket for connecting a PROM 5 is eliminated unlike before.
