PURPOSE:To increase leakage resistance by forming an insulating ring in a shape having an L-shaped cross section. CONSTITUTION:A positive mix 6 which is press-molded is accommodated in an inner positive container 1, and a separator 7 is placed thereon. An electrolyte absorbing material layer 8 into which an electrolyte is poured is placed on the separator 7. A tablet-like amalgamated zinc negative electrode 9 and a sealing plate 10 are arranged on the absorbing material layer 8. An insulating ring 11 having an L-shaped cross section coated with a sealant is fixed in the periphery of the sealing plate 10, and positioned on a flange 2. An opening edge of an outer positive container 4 is bent inward to fasten the circumference of the sealing plate 10.
