The mechanism, intended to be mounted on a measurement instrument with a windable tape, comprises a support 4 on which there is mounted a crank 3 formed in one piece with its hinge pin 10. The crank is mounted in a recess 6 of the support 4, a part of whose bottom forms a flexible tongue 8 delimited by two longitudinal slots 8a provided in the lower part of the lateral walls of the recess and in which the housings 8b for the hinge pin 10, which are provided in the said walls, emerge. The free end of the tongue 8 is directed toward the periphery of the support 4 and the slots emerge on this periphery through a flared zone delimited by an inclined slope 8c formed in the lateral walls of the recess and by a chamfer 8c provided at the end of the tongue 8; this flared zone forms a slope for access for the housings 8b for the pin 10 when the latter is forced into the slots while bending the tongue 8. <IMAGE>
