PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material having extremely high sensitivity and superior pressure resistance and undergoing little change in fog due to heat with the lapse of time by incorporating an active hardening agent having a carboxyl group into a photographic sensitive material contg. silver halide having a prescribed aspect ratio. CONSTITUTION:An active hardening agent having a carboxyl group is incorporated into a photographic sensitive material contg. a silver halide emulsion having >=5:1, preferably 8:1-20:1 average aspect ratio. The preferred amount of flat platy particles having >=5:1 aspect ratio is >=40wt%, especially >=60wt% of the total amount of all the silver halide particles. Silver bromide or silver iodobromide having 0-18% silver iodide content is preferably used as the silver halide. The preferred amount of the hardening agent added is 0.01-20wt%, especially 0.05-10wt% of the amount of dry gelatin used.
