PURPOSE:To eliminate the investment of installation required for each different tilt angle by opening a tracking servo at the horizontal state, closing the focus servo so as to adjust the light spot on the photodetector thereby allowing the spot to come the center of plural split cells. CONSTITUTION:In using a compact disk player tiltedly, the movement of the light spot on the photodetector with respect to the tilt angle is converted into a current flowing to a tracking coil. The conversion is formed by a tilt angle versus current characteristic and a current is injected through a resistor 22. In this case, the focus servo circuit is closed and a current is injected only to the tracking coil 14. An optical pickup 23 is fitted to a horizontal photodetec tor adjusting device 26 in this state, the X-Y direction of the photodetector 9 is adjusted so that the light spot on the photodetector comes the center of the split cells, the resistor 22 is removed and the compact disk player is tilted by an angle used actually, then the light spot comes to the center of the split cells of the light detector.
