PURPOSE:To prevent surface defects of foil metal by a good wettability and to obtain the foil metal having good quality, by cooling rapidly molten ferrous alloy containing Si or Si-Al, or molten active metal flowed down from a nozzle on a ferrous surface cooling body moving at high speed to produce the foil metal. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal 6, such as Fe-Si alloy, Fe-Si-Al alloy, active metal or these alloy, in a molten storage vessel 1 is flowed down from the slit nozzle 2, and brought into contact with the cooling roll 3 rotating at high speed to cool rapidly and produce the foil metal 7. In this case, by making of iron or ferrous alloy for the surface of cooling roll 3, the rapid cooled foil metal 7 is prevented from generation of micro-cracks 8 or surface defects owing to the good wettability for the cooling roll surface and the foil metal 7 having good quality is obtd. |
