PURPOSE:To obtain the titled additive capable of providing a lubricating oil having excellent solubility and storage stability, by reacting a polyalkylenepolyamine with a fatty acid comprised of an unsatd. fatty acid and a branched satd. fatty acid. CONSTITUTION:1mol of a polyalkylenepolyamine of the formula (wherein R is a 2-4 alkylene; n is an integer of 2-6) is reacted with 1-8mol, pref. (n+1)mol or less of a fatty acid comprised of 100-20mol% 18-24C unsatd. fatty acid (e.g., oleic acid) and 0-80mol% 18-30C branched satd. fatty acid (e.g., isostearic acid) at 200-220 deg.C for 2-3hr to obtain an additive for oil compsn. 0.005-30pts.wt. aforesaid additive is added to 100pts.wt. base oil having a kinetic viscosity of 5-1,000CST at 40 deg.C (e.g., paraffinic mineral oil). |
